God isn't found on a computer screen but in restless hearts, Pope says

Vatican City, Feb 10, 2015 / 01:23 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- In his homily Tuesday, Pope Francis said that Christians must have a certain “restlessness” if they want to know God, who is not found by staring at a computer, but rather by going outside of oneself.

“Sedentary Christians, lethargic Christians will not know the face of God: They do not know Him,” the Pope told attendees of his Feb. 10 daily Mass, which took place in the chapel of the Vatican’s Saint Martha guesthouse.

Vatican City, Feb 10, 2015 / 12:41 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Pope Francis encouraged the bishops of Greece to engage in dialogue and solidarity, values he said are particularly necessary in fighting pessimism during the country's ongoing financial crisis.

Fraternal communion is “indispensable for the growth of the Church in Greece, as well as for the progress of all of society,” he said Feb. 5 to the Greek bishops, who had come to Rome for their ad limina visit.

What Cardinal Burke really said about 'resisting' Pope Francis

“I simply affirmed that it is always my sacred duty to defend the truth of the Church's teaching and discipline regarding marriage,” Cardinal Burke told CNA Feb. 9.

If you care about God's handiwork you'll protect nature, Pope says

Vatican City, Feb 9, 2015 / 04:23 pm (CNA).- Set to finish his encyclical on the environment next month, Pope Francis said during his daily Mass at the Vatican on Monday that Christians who fail to safeguard nature do not care about God's handiwork.

“A Christian who does not protect creation, who does not allow it to grow, is a Christian who does not care about God's labors” which are borne out of God's love for us, the Pope said Feb. 9.

Pope Francis' tough words against horrors of human trafficking

Vatican City, Feb 8, 2015 / 10:37 am (CNA/EWTN News).- Pope Francis marked the Day of Prayer and Awareness against Human Trafficking by calling on governments to remove this “shameful wound” which has no place in “civil society.”

Is priestly celibacy the cause of clerical sex abuse? Not likely, victim says

Vatican City, Feb 7, 2015 / 12:47 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- One survivor of priestly sexual abuse says that despite a common perception that clerical celibacy can lead to sex abuse of minors, most perpetrators likely had issues before entering the seminary.

“People don't enter the priesthood and become child abusers, I don't think that's the case. I think that they had serious issues before entering Holy Orders,” Peter Saunders told journalists in a Feb. 7 press briefing.
