As a lifelong Catholic, Italian journalist Fabio Marchese Ragona has always believed this. But he did not know he would one day write a book about it -- until he witnessed an exorcism with his “own eyes” and a priest asked him to write about what he saw and learned.

Vatican appoints president of foundation overseeing scandal-ridden Italian hospital

Vatican City, Nov 12, 2020 / 02:00 pm (CNA).- The Vatican announced Thursday that it had appointed an interim president of the foundation which owns and operates a scandal-ridden dermatological hospital in Rome.

Fr. Giuseppe Pusceddu, a member and the superior of the Italian province of the Congregation of the Sons of the Immaculate Conception, was named Nov. 12 as the interim president of the board of directors of the Luigi Maria Monti Foundation.

Pope Francis: Care for refugees fleeing ‘viruses of injustice, violence and war’

Vatican City, Nov 12, 2020 / 12:00 pm (CNA).- Pope Francis has urged Catholics to care for people fleeing “the viruses of injustice, violence and war,” in a message marking the 40th anniversary of the Jesuit Refugee Service. 

In a letter posted on the JRS website Nov. 12, the pope wrote that the coronavirus pandemic had shown that all human beings were “in the same boat.”

Pope Francis calls to check on Italian cardinal in coronavirus ICU

Vatican City, Nov 12, 2020 / 07:30 am (CNA).- Pope Francis made a phone call this week to check in on an Italian cardinal who is in a serious condition as he battles COVID-19 after more than a week in intensive care.

Cardinal Gualtiero Bassetti, president of the Italian bishops’ conference and archbishop of Perugia, was hospitalized Oct. 31 after testing positive for the coronavirus.
