On February 21 to 24, at the invitation of Pope Francis, the presidents of the world's bishops' conferences gathered at the Vatican to discuss the current crisis of the faith and of the Church; a crisis experienced throughout the world after shocking revelations of clerical abuse perpetrated against minors.

Vatican City, Apr 10, 2019 / 09:49 am (CNA).- As Pope Francis’ council of cardinals wraps up the drafting of a new apostolic constitution, they have decided to take up the topic of management roles for women working in the Vatican.

Vatican spokesman Alessandro Gisotti told journalists April 10 that among proposed agenda items for subsequent meetings of the pope’s now-six member advisory group will be management positions for women in offices of the Holy See.

“None of us loves God as He loved us. It is enough to put oneself before a crucifix to grasp the disproportion,” Pope Francis said April 10.

This 9-year-old cancer patient who ‘never complained’ is now on the path to sainthood

Vatican City, Apr 8, 2019 / 10:38 am (CNA).- Pope Francis Monday recognized the heroic virtue of nine-year old Brazilian boy, who “never complained” during cancer treatments, but instead offered his suffering to Jesus.
 
Diagnosed in 1963 with osteosarcoma, Nelson Santana, then eight years old, asked his mother in the hospital one day to “promise Jesus not to complain in the face of suffering and pain.”
 

Pope Francis: Conversion requires a resolve to sin no more

Vatican City, Apr 7, 2019 / 05:52 am (CNA).- Pope Francis Sunday emphasized the need for people to have a firm resolve to change their lives when they ask for forgiveness of their sins.

“Every true conversion is aimed at a new future, at a new life, a beautiful life, a life free from sin, a generous life,” the pope said April 7. And people are not afraid to ask Jesus for forgiveness, “because He opens the door to this new life.”

Pope’s Via Crucis to highlight suffering of trafficked people

Vatican City, Apr 5, 2019 / 10:02 am (CNA).- The pope’s annual Good Friday Stations of the Cross, held at the Colosseum, will be written by a religious sister devoted to fighting human trafficking, it was announced Friday.

“The suffering of many persons who are victims of human trafficking will be the central theme
of the meditations” this year, Vatican spokesman Alessandro Gisotti said April 5.
